What You Should Never Say To Vapers

what you should never say to vapers

It never fails. Someone sees you pull out your e-cigarette or some other choice of vaping device and they feel compelled to say something to you. This is not necessarily a bad thing if you’re looking for a conversation starter and you like talking to people. Unless of course, they insist upon muttering inappropriate comments.

And let’s face it, the world is full of people that can’t help but utter inappropriate comments every time they open their mouths – or so it seems. Vapers, in particular, may notice this more and more as they silently sit there in peace, minding their own business, trying to enjoy a flavorful vape. Suddenly, they can feel someone staring, trying to conjure up something intelligent to say. Most times – they fail miserably.

For future reference, there are a number of things that you really shouldn’t bother saying to a vaper. So if you’re in doubt, hopefully, this will help you in your endeavor to – if you must speak at all – not start the wrong kind of conversation with someone who is trying to simply relax and enjoy a quiet, yummy vape.

Don’t Bother Talking If You’re Going to Say These

  • “Hey, what sort of vaping thing is that?” Would they really understand if you told them?
  • “So, how much money are you saving by doing that instead of smoking cigarettes?” You’re probably not, but they don’t want to know that.
  • “Eww! Do you know what’s in those things?!” Answer: Yes… Do you?
  • “Yeah I quit smoking, but I used sheer willpower.” Yes, and you were probably a raving bitch, and I see you’ve gained 50 pounds. How’s that working for you?
  • “Oh, I didn’t realize you were still smoking.” Um, what?
  • “Dude, why don’t you just quit smoking altogether?” Well, aside from the fact that I did and this isn’t smoking, apparently many of us do things we shouldn’t do – like you saying something stupid to me, for example.
  • “Don’t put that thing in your mouth. They’re more addictive than cigarettes are.” First of all, I’m going to ask you to provide scientific facts and figures to back that up. Secondly, you’re wrong.
  • “Do you have a favorite oil?” You mean like canola or EVOO? (They are likely referring to your e-fluid and don’t really know what to call it.)
  • “Dude, is that pot?” Yes. Yes, it is, and I’m an undercover narcotics agent. Would you like to buy some?

How to Handle Silly Questions Or Comments

If you are a vaper that simply doesn’t want to deal with this kind of ridiculousness, educate yourself on the myths and history of vaping and memorize some of the more technical, scientific, mind-boggling information about it. Start on some crazy spiel involving those topics the next time someone comes at you with inappropriate questions or comments. Their eyes will glaze over, and they will likely either faint or just walk away in utter confusion. Mission accomplished.

What Not to Say to a Retailer

Some may find this hard to believe, but retailers of e-cigarettes and other vaping devices sometimes are accused of being a type of “pusher” or “killer”. That’s right. Here’s something that was once said to an e-cigarette retailer: “So, are you making tons of cash dealing (pushing) e-cigarette’s to kids?” Do people even think before they speak? Apparently not. Here’s another one: “So are you still selling those e-cigarettes that are responsible for killing people?” Seriously?

Let’s take a look at how many real cigarettes have killed people and compare that to how many e-cigarettes are responsible for deaths. There is so much wrong with that person that it’s hard to know where to start. And yet people will insist on talking to you about things like this without giving it a second thought – clearly.

Don’t be that guy. If you must strike up a conversation with someone who is trying to enjoy a peaceful, flavorful vape, at least try to feign niceness and politeness. If a conversation is what you’re looking for, that will likely get you further than an insult or something completely and totally senseless and inappropriate.
