Pulsar Chorus Review: The $120 Concentrate Vape That Does Everything
The Pulsar Chorus Is Not a Normal Dab Pen
Most dab pens are simple. Load, fire, inhale. The Pulsar Chorus is not that device.
At $120 it’s the most expensive wax pen we carry below the e-rig tier. What you get for that is something no other device in the category offers: a built-in hot knife that loads your concentrate for you, a wax storage compartment built into the body, a water pipe adapter for filtered hits, a 2200mAh battery that will outlast your session by a wide margin, and a full dashboard display showing your temperature, battery level, and a session timer. All of it in a single device.
Whether that’s a lot of useful features or a lot of complexity depends entirely on how you use concentrates. This review is for the buyer trying to figure out which one they are.
→ Buy the Chorus ($120) if you dab regularly at home, use a water pipe, and want all your accessories built into one device
→ Buy the Ghost 2 (~$128.99) if you carry your dab pen daily, prioritize pocket size and discretion, and want the cleanest possible vapor from a truly portable device
What the Pulsar Chorus Actually Is
The Chorus sits in an unusual position in the concentrate vaporizer market. It’s not quite an e-rig and not quite a dab pen — it’s a session-oriented concentrate device that borrowed the best features from both categories.
Here’s what makes it distinct from a standard wax pen:
Built-in mini hot knife. This is the feature no other portable device has. A small electric heating tool docks and charges inside the Chorus body. Pull it out, scoop your concentrate onto the blade, hold the button and it heats the blade and transfers your concentrate directly into the coil. No separate dab tool. No sticky fingers. No trying to scrape material onto a coil with a cold metal pick. The hot knife melts and deposits a clean, precise load every time. Once you’ve used it, loading a standard dab pen the old way feels prehistoric.
Built-in wax storage. A compartment sits next to the coil beneath the mouthpiece assembly. Open it, put your concentrate inside. Your material travels with the device, stays accessible, and you never need to carry a separate container or silicone jar during a session.
Water pipe adapter. A 14mm adapter is included. Remove the silicone stopper from the bottom of the Chorus, insert the adapter, connect to any 14mm water pipe, and your vapor travels through water before it reaches you. This is what separates the Chorus from every portable dab pen at this price — water-filtered vapor in a device that isn’t an e-rig.
2200mAh battery. Almost three times the capacity of the Dr. Dabber Ghost 2 (1000mAh) and more than the Yocan Black Pocket (1400mAh). For home sessions where you’re passing the device around or running multiple loads over an extended session, you’ll never run into a dead battery mid-rotation.
Session timer + dashboard display. The screen shows your selected temperature, battery percentage, and a 30-second session timer. The timer is more useful than it sounds — it tells you exactly how long you’ve been drawing and when to toggle the carb cap for best vapor production.

How to Use the Pulsar Chorus
Hold the power button for 2.5 seconds to power on. The Pulsar “P” logo fades in. Press the button once to cycle through the four temperature settings — the current setting is highlighted on the dashboard.
To load: detach the mouthpiece, open the wax storage compartment, slide the hot knife out from its dock, scoop your concentrate onto the blade, then hold the hot knife button and hover the blade over the center of the coil until the concentrate transfers. Aim for the bottom of the coil. Don’t load the sides or rim. Return the hot knife to its dock, close the storage compartment, reattach the mouthpiece.
Press the button twice to initiate the 20-second preheat cycle. Once preheated, press and hold the button to fire. Toggle or spin the carb cap during the draw for optimal vapor production. The session timer on the dashboard tells you where you are in the 30-second window.
For water-filtered use: remove the silicone stopper from the bottom, insert the water pipe adapter, twist clockwise to lock, connect to your water pipe.
Pulsar Chorus vs Dr. Dabber Ghost 2
These two devices are often compared because they’re within $10 of each other. The comparison is useful precisely because they’re not trying to do the same thing.

Where the Ghost 2 Wins
Portability. At 88.9mm × 43.1mm, the Ghost 2 fits in a front pocket without any awkward bulk. The Chorus is a larger, session-oriented device — better suited for a desk, a nightstand, or a bag than a pants pocket. If you carry your dab pen everywhere, the Ghost 2 is the realistic daily option.
Vapor quality through engineering. The Ghost 2’s three dynamic heating modes — Ascent (temperature ramps up during the draw), Descent (simulates a banger cooling down), Steady (constant temperature) — are genuinely different from a preset system. Descent mode in particular mimics the way experienced dabbers use a traditional banger: loading at high heat and consuming vapor as the temperature drops. The fully isolated ceramic vapor pathway from chamber to mouthpiece is also a real differentiator — no plastic or silicone contact anywhere in the vapor path.
Brand pedigree. Dr. Dabber has been in the premium portable concentrate space for over a decade. The Ghost 2 is the latest iteration of their flagship pocket device. The engineering credibility is real and the eChamber’s 360° radial sidewall heating is a genuinely advanced design.
Where the Chorus Wins
The hot knife is a category-defining feature. No other portable concentrate device in this price range has one. If you’ve ever had concentrate string across three surfaces while trying to load a coil with a cold dab tool, the hot knife makes that experience feel like something from a previous decade. It works, it’s clean, and it makes loading feel effortless in a way that’s hard to describe until you’ve tried it.
Built-in everything. Your concentrate is in the device. Your loading tool is in the device. Your water pipe adapter is in the device. Your travel case is in the box. If you’re the type of person who loses accessories or wants a completely self-contained setup, the Chorus is the device.
Battery for extended sessions. 2200mAh is not just more battery — it’s a different user experience. Pass the Chorus around at a gathering and nobody is going to run into a dead device mid-session. The Ghost 2’s 1000mAh is reasonable for solo daily use; it’s a constraint for shared or extended sessions.
Water filtration without an e-rig. The 14mm water pipe adapter means you can get water-filtered, bubbled hits from a device that fits in a jacket pocket. Entry-level e-rigs start at $60 — the Chorus gives you that same filtered experience for $120 while remaining genuinely portable and keeping all the dab pen convenience.
Who Should Buy the Pulsar Chorus
The Chorus is for you if you:
— Dab primarily at home and want a device that stays on your desk or in your kit rather than your pocket
— Already own a water pipe or bong and want a portable device that connects to it without buying an e-rig
— Find loading a dab pen with a cold metal tool frustrating and want something better
— Want everything — storage, tool, water filtration, large battery — in one device you never have to accessorize
— Share your device with others and need the battery to handle it
The Chorus is probably not for you if you:
— Need something genuinely pocket-portable for daily carry
— Prioritize vapor quality as the primary metric over convenience features
— Want a device that disappears in your hand or in a pocket — the Chorus is notably larger than a standard dab pen
Don’t Have a Chorus? You Can Still Get the Hot Knife Experience
The built-in hot knife is the feature that most Chorus buyers mention first. But it’s worth knowing that standalone electric hot knives exist for every other dab pen — if you own a Yocan Orbit, a Lookah Python, or any standard dab pen, you can add the same clean-loading experience for as little as $15.99.
Three options at different price points:
Pulsar Mini Hot Knife — $15.99 — The most affordable standalone electric hot knife we carry. Compact, ceramic tip, USB-C. If you just want to stop losing concentrate to a cold dab tool, this is the entry point.
Yocan Dirk — $19.99 — Three voltage settings (2.6V / 3.2V / 3.8V), ceramic blade, interchangeable tips, USB-C. The extra voltage control matters with harder concentrates like shatter — a lower setting slices cleanly; a higher setting melts stickier material off the blade into your coil.
Puffco Hot Knife V2 — $49.99 — Puffco’s premium standalone. Redesigned ceramic tip engineered to leave more material in the chamber, travel-friendly cap connection, USB-C with a full charge in 25 minutes, lanyard loop for on-the-go loading. If you use a Puffco Peak, Pivot, or Proxy, this is the accessory that completes the setup.
The Chorus bundles the hot knife into the device itself. But a $15.99 Pulsar Mini means you can add clean loading to any dab pen you already own without replacing it. See all three in our electric hot knife dab tool collection.

A note on positioning: The Pulsar Chorus sits between a standard dab pen and an electric dab rig — larger and more session-oriented than a pocket dab pen, but more portable and accessible than a dedicated e-rig.
