Are Digital Vaporizers Better Than Analog Vaporizers?
In the world of vaping (and in particular when one is using a vaporizer with which to ingest medical herbs), one essential factor to consider when looking at vaporizers is how the device deals with temperature. For example, a lighter operates at a constant temperature; whereas an analog or digital thermometer contained within a vaporizer allows the vaper to change up the vaping experience.
There is a big difference between an analog controlled vaporizer and a digital one. Let’s take a look at these vaporizers so that you can determine, for yourself, which is better for your purposes.
Analog Vaporizers
This vaporizer does not fill you in, as a user (vaper) as to the temperature, specifically. A dial is used on vaporizers, with no digital readout. It is rotated to the “desired setting”. All too often, however, the manufacturer of the vaporizer redefines these temperatures.
The good news here is that these types of vapes are easy to use and relatively simplistic. They get the job done, and sometimes that’s all you’re looking for. If you like to vape on the run, the fact that these vapes are so very portable will be a selling point. They’re great for the guy or gal on the go.
Digital Vaporizers
This vaporizer gives the user (vaper) the chance to pick the heat source’s exact temperature. The science here is far more exacting. For patients using medicinal herbs, this is an extremely attractive aspect as they most often seek very specific quantities of whichever herb they are vaping. Certain temperatures are better for realizing the full potency potential of particular buds.
Frequently, however, these vaporizers are not portable. If you want to vape on the go, a better choice may be an analog vaporizer, or something called a static vape. (Fortunately, manufacturers are realizing that handheld digital vaporizers are a necessity, so there are finally some available.)
Not to Confuse Things But…
The static vape just referred to is, in a nutshell, preset and calibrated by the manufacturer. Users (vapers) are unable to change the device’s temperature. Usually, the temperature is set at right around 374°. But if you want to vape on the go, this is an easy, quick solution – as long as you aren’t picky.
Vaporizers and Cannabinoids
When we are talking about the type of vapor produced and the difference between a few degrees, is it really that big of a deal? Yes, it is. For many vapers, the difference is dramatic. Especially when the user (vaper) is vaping their favorite medicinal herb. The active compounds found within medical marijuana, cannabinoids, have different boiling points. So that in order to understand why a digital thermometer is important to medicinal marijuana vapers, one must beware of the various boiling points of each cannabinoid. As a matter of reference, cannabinoids can be introduced to the system (in addition to vaping) by suppository, sublingual absorption, intravenous injection, transdermal patch, oral ingestion, or the old-fashioned method of smoking.
Digital vaporizers come in different types. There are a limited number of handheld models that can run around $100 or so; tabletop models that can cost as little as $80 (approximation), and other tabletop models that can cost as much as $600 or thereabouts. It all depends on how many bells and whistles you’re looking for, desired convenience, and personal taste.
