Why Is My Vape Leaking?

Why does my vape leak

It doesn’t matter whether you’ve been vaping for a long time or if you’re a novice. Sooner or later, every vaper experiences leakage. It is sad but true. Fortunately, with a minimum of effort, leaks can usually be analyzed and fixed. Let’s take a look at why your vape is leaking. Here are some causes for leaks, and some quick and easy fixes for leaking tanks!

Store Your Vape Tank Vertically

This is an extremely frequent but totally avoidable problem that can result in leakage. Leaks can be caused by the fact that you have stored your vaping device in a horizontal position. The reason for that is that if over an extended period of time, the device is on its side, e-fluid sneaks out the airflow holes in the device. So, the solution is easy. Do not, over extended periods of time, store your tank in a horizontal position.

Is Your O-Ring Damaged?

Damaged O-rings can be the cause of a leak. At the bottom and the top of your tank, you will find a rubber O-ring. This rubber o-ring can be damaged or get ripped. When this happens, juice leaks out because there is no air seal. Go online, find your O-rings, and order replacements. To install a new O-ring, you simply take apart your tank, take off the rings, and slap the new ones on.

The Chimney has E-Liquid Inside

More frequently than not, a leaky tank is the result of improper filling. When putting e-fluid into the tank, do not accidentally fill or spill it into the chimney. (That’s the tube that, through the middle of the tank, runs through to the mouthpiece). Should you spill your e-juice accidentally into the chimney, the tank will leak and gurgle. Use a paper towel to clean out any e-fluid that got spilled into the chimney.

Replace your Coil

The coil could have something to do with a leakage problem. If it needs to be replaced because it is old or faulty, juice leaks from the air holes because the e-fluid is not wicked. Fortunately, this is also an easy fix. First of all, check to see that your coil is completely screwed in. If that doesn’t fix the leak, coil replacement is your next option. (Just as a side note, it’s good to clean your coil(s) on a regular basis to keep the taste of your e-juice pleasurable and pure). Read our full guide How to change an atomizer coil here.

Stop Vape Leaks Before They Happen

It is highly recommended that you perform regular maintenance on whatever device you use for your vaping pleasure. If you don’t clean your tank, it results in e-juice residue. Leakage can occur from this kind of residue because it builds up and ruins the air seal on your tank. Simply rinsing your tank with water, and allowing for overnight drying, will help keep your tank cleaner.

Hopefully, these tips will help you avoid a leaky vaping device and allow you to, once again, fully enjoy the pleasurable experience of vaping.
