Single Coil vs Dual Coil Atomizer
Another super common question that comes up – What is the difference between a single coil and a dual coil?
What’s a Coil in Vaping?
In vaping, the atomizer coil has a very specific purpose. When it comes to heating coils, the heart and soul – and an essential player in the world of vaping – is an atomizer. A heating coil is made from a piece of wire. This coil creates vapor out of your favorite e-fluid by heating it up. And, of course, you need a power source such as a battery.
When you hear someone refer to the measure of a coil, they are talking about the level of resistance offered by the coil. The power they demand is determined by this resistance. Coils can be made from titanium, nickel, stainless steel, and kanthal.
Dual-Coil and a Single-Coil Atomizer Differences
The difference is simple; Single Coil atomisers have 1 coil, whilst Dual Coil atomisers have 2 coils. Your e-liquid is vaporized by the power sent to the coil(s) and the heat produced. Here are the main differences;
- Single coils have a simpler design
- Single coil atomizers are easier to rebuild after cleaning
- Dual coil atomizers produce a higher density of vapor than single coils
- Single coils usually consume a much lesser amount of e-liquid than dual coils
- Single coils consume less battery power than dual coils
- Single coils need a longer time to heat up, in order to match vapor production from a dual coil
Some people have, after cleaning their dual-coil atomizer, a lot of difficulty with rebuilding. And with a dual-coil, you will consume more e-juice than you would with a single coil. You’ll also deplete your battery charge much faster with a dual-coil.
On the plus side, however, because two coils are involved in heating, vapor is delivered in a much shorter amount of time. And, due to the increased contact between the coils and the device’s e-liquid, a higher amount of vapor is produced by dual-coil atomizers.
Hopefully, this will clear up any confusion there may have been between single-coil and dual-coil atomizers. They both have their positive and marginally negative characteristics. So, the choice is yours… What will it be? Single-coil, or dual-coil?
